Sometimes — reliably only at international departments of major hospitals and at private clinics. Regular-department cashiers usually take cash, China UnionPay, WeChat Pay, or Alipay. The practical solution: link your Visa or Mastercard to Alipay or WeChat Pay (both have accepted international cards since 2023) and pay hospital bills through those apps, keeping some cash in reserve for smaller windows. Note that inpatient admission usually requires an upfront deposit regardless of payment method, and international departments can often assist with foreign insurance paperwork.
