How long can I stay in China without a visa?
Up to 30 days if you hold an ordinary passport from one of 50 countries — including most of Europe, the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and several Latin American countries — under the unilateral scheme valid through December 31, 2026. Travelers from 55 countries (including the US and Mexico) can instead use the 240-hour (10-day) visa-free transit when genuinely continuing to a third country, entering via any of 65 approved ports. The stay clock starts at 00:00 the day after entry. Hainan island additionally runs its own 30-day scheme covering 59 countries, valid for Hainan only.
