What is a Tier 3 Grade A (三甲) hospital in China?

It is the highest rating in China's public hospital classification. Hospitals are tiered 1–3 by size and function — Tier 3 hospitals are large regional or national centers, typically 500+ beds with teaching and research roles — and graded A to C within each tier through quality review. "Tier 3 Grade A" (三甲, sānjiǎ) therefore marks a hospital meeting the top national standard for scale, specialist depth, equipment, and outcomes. For international patients it is the most reliable single signal of a serious public hospital; nearly all hospitals profiled on this site hold this rating.
